“My Kingdom Is Not Of This Earth”

“Chapter I1 The Gospel According to the Spiritist Doctrine”

The Roman authorities in Jerusalem were worried that the Jews if given a chance would plan a revolt against them.  They knew that the Jews needed a leader who could organize them into an opposing army.  When Pilate asked Jesus “are you the king of the Jews?”  Pilate is assuming that the Jews might proclaim Jesus their king and threaten the Roman occupation of Jerusalem.  The Romans should therefore crucify Jesus, kill the Jews and prevent the revolt before it could get started.  When Jesus replies “my kingdom is not of this earth” he is saying, in the spirit world I may be called a king because of my perfect state of spiritual evolution.  Jesus tells Pilate if “I were a king on earth my followers would not allow you to take me,” here Jesus is telling Pilate, this is not my army, they are not a threat to you, you need not kill them, this is referenced in the parable “Jesus died for our sins.”  In Jesus’ final words to Pilate “I came into the world to give testimony to the truth” Jesus is saying, at your appointed time you will all desire to come before God, but first you must be reborn in the spirit, you must reincarnate many times before you can be ready to receive God.  “The Jews who condemn me and the Romans who crucify me will be given the same opportunity to reincarnate to a higher level of evolution, and in the end I will greet them in heaven with open arms, this is my Kingdom.”

Jesus had one sole purpose and reason why he chose to reincarnate on earth.  His desire was to teach us how to Love and to explain God’s plan, “Love God above all things and treat each other as you would have them treat you.”  He demonstrated God’s plan in his teachings by doing “modeling” what he preached for others to follow.  He traveled from village to village, temple to temple and his work of faith and healing became the “Gospel.”  He spoke of heaven and described it as the place where we came from, where we would return too, and where we would recognize each other and be with him again.

God’s Creatures

The  Pinta Island tortoise, one of the few species of Giant Galapagos tortoises and the rarest animal in the world since there is only one left alive.

In the book Heaven and Hell the spirits tell us that heaven is perceived by each of us according to our level of self awareness, intellectual and moral development.  Jesus explains that we are all given an infinite number of opportunities to reincarnate (to be born again) as he did.  This is how we will reach his same level of perfection.  This is the afterlife and salvation that Jesus promised we would have.  .

This is why we must make every effort to grow morally and intellectually in each incarnation.  The spirits tell us how we can grow when they explain the parable “Without Charity there can be no Salvation.”  The spirits tell us that we will gradually grow and reach our own spiritual greatness if we work in truth, justice and in the service of Love.  The Spiritist Doctrine explains that our life-time is like a minute on a 24 hour clock in comparison to the infinite existence we have as spirits.  This is the meaning of the “parable you must first be reborn before you may enter the kingdom of heaven.”

When we refer to Jesus as King it is in recognition of his integrity and content of character.  It is the application of his many virtues as he completed his mission that inspires us to follow him.  It is not the blinding light that he represented but the promise of salvation symbolized by the light that we follow.  For the Spiritist of the world Jesus is the Prince of Peace and our most senior brother.
