Bezerra de Menezes (BM) Food Pantry is a beneficent, educational, cultural, welfare and social promotion nonprofit organization with 501 (c)(3) status with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, whose purpose includes the promotion of spiritual, moral and material charity, by all means available, without distinction of people, race, color, political creed, social position or religion; and carrying out assistance and social promotion in general.
Our assistance and social promotion activities serve about 10,000 people annually through the following activities:
Food Pantry
BM activities are supported by individual donations.
Mission: The mission of the BM Food Pantry is to provide food and other grocery products to families and individuals, while engaging our community to fight hunger and poverty in the Miami-Dade County area.
BM Food Pantry distributes food to about 50 families (200 people) per week.
All BM workers are volunteers who have not stopped working during Covid-19 pandemic; we have adjusted our activities in accordance to local protocols, and therefore our food distribution is temporarily done by a Drive Thru system.
BM Food Pantry gives volunteer hours to local students who are willing to work at the Food Pantry.
BM Food Pantry is under the regulation and in person inspection of Feeding South Florida (largest food bank in South Florida and part of Feeding America). We have been an official partner agency of Feeding South Florida for the last 10 years.
Wednesdays - From 11am to 1pm - Food receipt and internal organization.
Fridays - From 11am to 5pm - Preparation of the food baskets and delivery.
Fridays - From 2pm to 5pm
Food baskets ready to be delivered to families.
Campaign for food donations
Mission: To provide free clothes, shoes and household items to needy families.
Vision: By receiving donations from members and friends, it is possible to distribute them to recipients of our BM Food Pantry; therefore having both Food Pantry and Family Closet together.
